Silence is not consent

Silence does NOT equal consent. Many people interpret it as such, but that doesn’t make their interpretation real or valid or right. Silence often means fear. People often don’t speak up about outrageous or controversial things because they’re afraid of the consequences of such outspokenness.

It is important to recognize that there are power dynamics at play in many situations, such as in the workplace or in relationships, which can make it difficult for individuals to speak up or assert their boundaries. Therefore, it is important to create safe and supportive environments where individuals feel comfortable to communicate their boundaries and to listen and respect those boundaries.
